Overview
(Part-time role that could be expanded to a full-time role based on student numbers)
Are you a passionate teacher with a musical background looking to make a difference to vulnerable young people’s lives?
Do you love music and understand the music industry?
If the answer is yes, an exciting opportunity exists to join our teaching team at SupaJam, one of the country’s leading learning providers.
Who we are
SupaJam is a music focused post-16 Specialist Provider, supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged 16 – 25 year olds across our three bases in Brighton, Canterbury and Swanley, with our newest base in Wandsworth opening in September 2025.
The majority of our students have EHC (Education, Health and Care) plans and a variety of SEN (Special Educational) needs, or who have previously disengaged from mainstream education.
Our ethos is to be forward thinking, caring and encouraging whilst providing a structured, supportive and non-judgmental environment, allowing all our young people to thrive and achieve their full potential.
Working at SupaJam is unlike any other role in an education setting. Our young people have all struggled in life, often through no fault of their own, and battled with often undiagnosed special educational needs. To be part of a company that challenges the status quo, goes the extra mile for all our young people whilst immersed in the music industry is often challenging, but always rewarding.
With so many of our young people having previously fallen out of formal education we use their passion for music to reignite their desire to learn and achieve. We teach the RSL Music Practitioners Diploma (business pathway) at levels 1, 2 and 3.
To continue the growth and educational excellence of the organisation we are now seeking an additional RSL Music Practitioner Tutor to join our team.
Our students are united by their passion for music, and with our support, engage in the RSL Music Practitioners (Business Pathway) syllabus from Levels 1-3, as well as English and Maths and additional programmes that cover SMSC, British Values, Practical Musicianship and work experience.
At SupaJam, we pride ourselves on the opportunities that we are able to give every student, from meeting and workshopping with professional music industry specialists, to sheltered in house work experience, to working alongside the multi award winning Black Deer music festival.
Each of our bases covers music technology, performance and music business. Our ethos is to be forward thinking, caring and encouraging whilst providing a structured, supportive and non-judgemental environment, allowing all our young people to thrive and achieve to their full potential. Indeed, last year 85% of our leavers achieved places at university!
