Job Purpose

To be responsible for managing, delivering and internally quality assuring FE (Further Education) Hair and Media Makeup including Theatrical special effects qualifications, whilst contributing towards key intentions of the curriculum area through effective collaboration with colleagues

To provide an outstanding service to learners, staff, and other stakeholders.

Key Roles & Accountabilities

Overarching responsibility

To effectively plan and coordinate the effective delivery of specific Hair and media makeup programmes including special effects at Levels, 2 and 3
To deliver across a range of programmes within the curriculum area and across the college as required including daytime and evening sessions.
To develop schemes of work and lesson plans to ensure for delivery of programmes for both full time and part time studies is high quality and delivers an outstanding student experience
Take part in in curriculum development and planning activities in line with current good practice and encompassing the study programme framework.
Manage study programmes, monitor progress, attendance, achievement key performance indicators and retention on Hair, Media makeup and Theatrical special effects programmes.
To liaise with Awarding organisations to ensure high quality delivery of our programmes.

Recording achievement and performance

Coordinate the monitoring and tracking of learners’ achievements including target setting and qualification achievement.
Overall responsibility for programme management and student performance including performance of English and maths, and other study programme elements, within the study programme.

Learning plans

Plan and develop schemes of work, lesson plans and assessments planner in line with college processes and requirements

Coordination of course related and learning materials.

Coordinate the collation and storage of course materials and awarding body correspondence including the use of Microsoft Teams & Moodle based storage / courses.
Development of relevant detailed schemes of work, lesson plans and assessment tracking material

Contribution towards continuous quality improvement

Be involved with the IQA process and liaise with External Quality Assurers and External Examiners on quality and improvement of learning and assessment material.
Quality assures all course and delivery materials to ensure awarding body and college compliance in conjunction with the Curriculum Area Manager
Take part in programme quality reviews in line with the college calendar and using the appropriate paperwork.
Complete student reports throughout the academic year
Monitor and recommend resources and learning materials required for effective and compliant delivery in conjunction with the Curriculum Area Manager.
Liaise with the Internal Verifier to ensure that IV plan is in place and that team members are aware and understand this.
Monitor course performance using management information and Pro Achieve.

Enrichment

Have responsibility on course related enrichment activities and trips and ensure team and CAM awareness.
Contribute and as requested by the CAM lead on learner views / voice forums for relevant courses.

Meetings

Attend and lead regular team and Standardisation meetings as specified by the CAM.
Team meetings follow standard College agenda.

Administration

Liaise with Curriculum Administrators to ensure that programme team complete and maintain all appropriate programme documentation, management, and statistical information in line with Department, College, and external procedures.

Learner recruitment and promotional activities

Undertake reasonable promotional and marketing activity as agreed with CAM and within the parameters of the Collective Agreement.
Conduct interviews with prospective learners.
Plan and deliver an appropriate induction for learners onto FE programmes.

Other Duties

The Post Holder may be required to perform duties other than those given in the Job Description for the post. The duties and responsibilities attached to posts may vary from time to time without changing the general character of the duties or the level of responsibility entailed. Such variations are a common occurrence and would not of themselves justify the re-evaluation of a post. In cases, however, where a permanent and substantial change in the duties and responsibilities of a post occurs, consistent with a higher level of responsibility, then the post will be eligible for re-evaluation.

Health and Safety

The post holder will agree, as part of the contract of employment, to comply with their duties under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, and any Health and Safety Regulations issued under the Act, and to cooperate with the College to enable it to carry out its health and safety duties under the Act. Previous Experience

At least three years’ practical experience of the subject area within a Hair and media makeup environment including theatrical work

Good knowledge of IT Teaching qualification or willingness to work towards

Teaching Experience within FE or HE.

Other Hair and beauty qualifications at level 3

Good Industry connections to drive the curriculum forward.

Qualifications

Qualified to Level 3 with a relevant vocational qualification. To include Media makeup and special effects.

At least 3 years Industry experience

Educated to at least GCSE level or equivalent with English and maths C or above (or willingness to work towards)

Teaching qualification or willingness to work towards

A1 Assessor Award or willingness to work towards.

Relevant Degree in subject area

IT/Word processing qualification.

IQA qualification

the knowledge, skills or experience required could be achieved through relevant training which the College is committed to provide. In decisions on selection, however, preference will be given to those candidates who can already demonstrate competence in areas specified.
